COLLINGWOOD has made a staggering eight changes as it looks to get back on the winners list against Carlton on Sunday.

The Pies committed to making at least five changes on Thursday after Dale Thomas (knee), Josh Fraser (knee), Travis Cloke (hamstring), Anthony Rocca (groin) and Danny Stanley (omitted) were all left out of the initial 25-man squad.

But following last week's 88-point loss to St Kilda, Mick Malthouse has also shown Brent Macaffer, Jaxson Barham and Alan Toovey the door with the final side announced on Friday.

Those three players make up the emergency list.

The group charged with helping to right the Magpie ship are Leon Davis, Paul Medhurst, John Anthony, Dayne Beams, Ryan Cook, Shannon Cox, Ben Reid and Cameron Wood.

The Blues have settled on just the one change for the MCG blockbuster with exciting youngster Mitch Robinson replacing Cameron Cloke.

Steven Browne, Brad Fisher and Setanta O'hAilpin are the emergencies.

Port Adelaide has named Kane Cornes despite the key onballer appearing to suffer a serious shoulder injury in the narrow loss to North Melbourne.

Fellow shoulder injury victim Steven Salopek was not so lucky and drops out of the side to be replaced by first-year player Hamish Hartlett.

Marlon Motlop, Toby Thurstans and Matthew Westhoff make up the emergency list.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace has also swung the changes with Nathan Brown, Trent Cotchin, Mitch Morton, Kayne Pettifer and Andrew Raines returning to strengthen the side.

Alex Rance will miss at least a fortnight after his shocking collision with Brisbane Lion Troy Selwood last weekend while Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls, Jay Schulz, Jack Riewoldt and Shane Edwards have been dropped.

Riewoldt and Edwards are emergencies along with Will Thursfield.

Steven King replaces Ben McEvoy as the Saints look to continue their winning ways against the Bombers in Sunday's twilight fixture. McEvoy is an emergency with David Armitage and Raphael Clarke.

Essendon emerged unscathed from last week's shock win over reigning premier Hawthorn and has understandably rewarded those 22 players by naming an unchanged squad.

Leroy Jetta, Tyson Slattery and Jay Nash are the emergencies.
