Months of intricate planning have come downto just hours with the final countdown well underway for tonight’s AnniversaryDinner extravaganza in Sydney.
Under a 125-metre long marquee thecelebration of the Swans’ 25 years in Sydney, and QBE’s20-years as Principal Sponsor, the event on the Entertainment Quarter’s TheShowring promises to be something extra special.
More than 1,900 guests will be usheredalong the red carpet entry, adorned by two-metre high photos of past and presentSydney Swans heroes, including all of our captains from the 25 years in Sydney.
The night will trace that 25 year journeyof the Swans since their 1982 arrival in the harbour city through to 2006.
Of the 265 players to have run out for theSydney Swans in that time, 146 will be in attendance at the gala event,including all the Brownlow medallist through that period; Paul Kelly, GregWilliams, Gerard Healy and Adam Goodes.
Inaugural captain Barry Round will beinterviewed during the night, along with many others who have been integral inthe roller-coast ride of the red and white in Sydney.
AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou will be on handfor the official toast and the majority of characters of the past 25 yearswill be there as well, including the “Gold Coast Meter Maid” Warwick Capper.
