Collingwood forward Brad Dick was in good spirits after undergoing surgery on his right knee on Thursday.

The 22-year-old injured his knee in last Saturday’s VFL contest and was stretchered from the sidelines.  Dick made a brief appearance at the Westpac Centre today before heading home to rest over the weekend.

"The surgeon said everything went alright and I am feeling OK now," Dick told collingwoodfc.com.au.

"A bit drowsy but all things considered not bad."

Dick had a full reconstruction on his injured knee and said he knew he was in trouble as soon as the incident occurred in the second quarter against the Casey Scorpions.

"I knew straight away.  It just popped out.  I did something similar to my left knee before so I knew what I was in for straight away."

The Western Australian is planning to return home for a few weeks while he recuperates and prepares himself for intensive recovery.

"Once I can walk I will head home to Perth and chill out for a few weeks.  After I get a little better I will then assess my options."

Dick has played 27 games and booted 32 goals for Collingwood since debuting in round three of the 2007 season.

Recruited from East Fremantle (WA), the small forward was Collingwood’s third round selection, number 44 overall in the 2006 draft. He returned in round five this year after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction in 2010 and has played three senior games this season.

Dick has suffered four serious injuries since beginning his career with Collingwood. A knee injury in the 2008 preseason forced Dick to miss the entire season.  He returned in 2009 to play 16 senior games before injuring his shoulder at the end of that season. Dick returned to the senior side in round 12, 2010 where he kicked four goals before he reinjured the troublesome shoulder the next week and underwent his second shoulder reconstruction in the space of eight months.

Despite the setback to his season, Dick said he would remain positive.

"Yeah, I am feeling a little down at this point but I have been through it before and I know what to do to get back."
