BRETT Peake is fit and Antoni Grover and Jeff Farmer return for Fremantle as it looks to upset St Kilda's finals aspirations at Subiaco Oval on Sunday.
Peake looks to have overcome a shoulder injury suffered in the loss to the Sydney Swans on Saturday night, Farmer is back from a one-game suspension and Grover’s presence will definitely strengthen the defence.
Des Headland was also in line for a recall after three games in the WAFL reserves after a knee injury, but has only been named as an emergency.
"We think Peake will play and that's a real positive for us because we initially thought he had a broken collarbone, but it turns out it's just a sore shoulder,” assistant coach Chris Scott said before training on Friday.
“We have given him the week to rest it and tonight we will test it to see if he's OK to play.”
Scott said the coaching staff wanted to see Headland train on Friday evening before making a call on whether or not he would play, and the 27-year-old will now hope to play a part in the final two matches of the season.
After Adam Goodes booted eight to sink Fremantle last week in Sydney, Fremantle’s defence will be looking to stop a similar haul for in-form Saint Nick Riewoldt.
Scott is confident Fremantle can cope down back with the strong-marking Saint and a keen to perform Justin Koschitzke.
"We were very comfortable with the job Michael Johnson did on Barry Hall (last week), Chris Mayne had a big ask on Goodes and will learn from that,” he said.
“We have addressed some issues that came out of the Sydney game and I'm confident we can remedy them.
"It's fair to say that we won't expect the one bloke to do the whole job on Riewoldt.
“Koschitzke is under a bit of pressure but we know he's a top-line player when on his game. We've persisted with playing (Luke) McPharlin forward with good results, and that will happen again, even with those dangerous forwards."
Scott is also hopeful the Fremantle players gain some advantage on a warm Perth winter day and the group is feeling buoyant after a good finish to the season.
"The spirit is still high and I'm really happy with how the club and players have held themselves together this year through some really tough times,” he said.
“I've seen clubs fall apart when out of finals contention but I haven’t seen any signs of that.
"We'd like to think that when it is warmer it gives us an advantage but they would have learnt a bit from their game here a couple of weeks ago so we won't know until Sunday."
