Since its opening in 1965, Moorabbin has been an integral part of St Kilda’s history. Hurwitz has captured the essence of the ground through his work.
“What makes Moorabbin Oval so captivating to me as an artist is the sense of time the structure evokes,” he said.
“While painting these works on-site at the ground, I could almost hear the people lining up at the turnstiles on a Saturday and packing the grandstands. These paintings are my attempt at trying to capture the sense of time and preserve it through art.”
The exhibition opens on Thursday September 18 at Greenwood Gallery, 1 Hotham Street, South Melbourne from 6-8pm and runs for 10 days. For more information, visit www.davidhurwitz.com.au or phone 03 9682 3205.
