FORMER Collingwood captain Scott Burns has become one of three ex-Magpies to be inducted to the club's Hall of Fame.

Burns, who led the club in his final year in 2008 joined former Grand Final players Jack Monohan and Ted Potter as inductees in Monday's season launch.

Burns' 264 games over 14 years placed him behind only four other players in the Magpies' all-time games record.

He was runner-up in the club's best and fairest twice and was a member of the 2002 and 2003 losing Grand Final teams.

Burns has been an assistant coach at West Coast since retiring from the Magpies at the end of 2008.

Monohan was one of the first genuine stars in Collingwood's long and illustrious career. He played 234 games, debuting in 1893, four years before the formation of the VFL.

The dashing defender was a key player in the 1902 premiership year although injury forced him out of the Grand Final triumph.

Monohan represented Victoria seven times, was vice-captain of Collingwood for three seasons, and became famous for his spectacular marking. He died in 1934, aged 61.

Potter played 182 games without kicking a single goal in his 10 years with the Magpies.

He was one of the finest defenders of his generation, taking on and often beating legends such as Royce Hart, Darrel Baldock and Alex Jesaulenko.
