The St Kilda Football Club is delighted to announce the formation of its new exclusive wine partnership with Step Rd Wines, adding the South Australian winemaker to its already diverse portfolio of corporate partners.

Established in 1985, Step Rd has been producing world class wine at estate vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale. The exclusive association will ensure that all St Kilda Football Club functions are stocked with high quality wine from match day hospitality to the JELD-WEN Best & Fairest award night.

Archie Fraser, CEO of the St Kilda Football Club said, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Step Rd to the St Kilda family. Their world class wines are an excellent fit for our club and we look forward to developing our relationship with them.”

Justin McCarthy, General Manager of Step Rd said, “At Step Rd, we pride ourselves on producing world class wine that reflects the essence of the region. Like the Saints, our globally renowned wines are of exceptional quality, strong character and extremely versatile which is why we believe Step Rd is a great fit for the St Kilda Football Club.”

The Step Rd winery located just outside of Adelaide was built with two things in mind; wine quality and environmental protection.

All liquid waste and wash water is stored in plastic-lined dams to prevent seepage into the precious water table before being treated to remove damaging chemicals and salinity; then recycled as irrigation for the vineyard.

Similarly, all solid waste of skins, stalks and seeds are mulched and returned to the vineyard to enhance and improve the soil, as well as reducing the irrigation requirement by up to 25%.

These principles and innovative business techniques only enhanced St Kilda’s resolve to stand alongside Step Rd and form a fruitful partnership that both parties greatly look forward to maturing.
