It was good to catch up with so many of you at our Family Day at Waverley Park yesterday.
It was the first time we had conducted the event at Waverley, and I think it went very well. It was obvious there were a lot of members and supporters in attendance who live in the south eastern suburbs who had not attended a Family Day before.
The shuttle bus service from Monash University, where parking facilities were available, also seemed to work very well. For some who drove to the ground, it was a bit confusing but hopefully in future all will know to go directly to Monash University and the Club will provide transport to and from the ground.
A few made suggestions to me as to how we can further improve the experience, and I thank those members for their constructive suggestion. I will pass those suggestions on to our staff.
I would like to thank Lisa Meehan and her staff who, together with other members of our administrative staff, planned and worked so hard to make the day a success.
This week we will surpass our 45,000 member target on our way to our goal of 55,000 members. If all those members from last year who have not renewed their membership to date did so, we would be home and hosed. Please do so if you are reading this article.
It is wonderful to hear that Tasmania is only 92 members off the total number of 2009 members, and it is still some weeks away from the start of the season. Well done Tasmania, and thank you for your vote of confidence in everything the Club is doing in your wonderful State. Remember though, we are chasing 10,000 members in Tassie this year.
We are proud to be your partners, and look forward to a long and ever-expanding relationship.
The pre-season cup is over for us this year, but we still have a couple of games to trial and give opportunity to our younger players. Last week’s game against the Western Bulldogs saw a number of our younger players take to the park for the first time and excite us all. Their impressive performances reinforce my belief that this year will be an exciting one for all of us.
For now stay well and go Hawks! Only 26 days to the start of the season.
