WHO IS the best footballer to come out of Tasmania?
There would hardly be a day in the Apple Isle where that question is not vigorously debated, usually over a Cascade or a Boag's.
It is the same question that was posed to Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt in this week's episode of Personal Best on AFL.com.au.
Fellow former Richmond full-forwards Michael Roach and Matthew Richardson feature on his list and because Tasmania is, well, quite compact, so too do players with a personal connection to Riewoldt, with Rodney Eade (his mother's cousin) and Brent Crosswell (his neighbour in Bellerive) also on his list.
The top four speak for themselves. As noted by Riewoldt, you could "throw a blanket over them".
Darrel Baldock, Peter Hudson, Ian Stewart and Royce Hart aren't just champions of Tasmania, they figure prominently among the very best to have played the game.
And like all Tasmanians, Riewoldt gave it plenty of consideration before selecting his No.1. To learn whom he chose, click here.
Personal Best appears every Wednesday on AFL.com.au.
Next week: North Melbourne's Hamish McIntosh rates the best ruckmen of the last 25 years.
