MELBOURNE has recalled Brad Miller and Colin Garland for Sunday's clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.

The pair come into the team at the expense of skipper David Neitz, whose neck injury forced him onto the long-term injury list this week, and Matthew Whelan, who copped a one-week ban via the match review panel following last week's loss to Carlton.

Miller himself comes back into the team after serving a one-week suspension after he collided with Daniel Pratt in the round-four match against North Melbourne.

Garland, who turns 20 on Monday, will play his fourth match for the year after he managed just two games in his first year of AFL football in 2007.

He was dropped ahead of the round-four clash with the Roos but has earned a recall after he showed good form with VFL affiliate Sandringham.

Matthew Warnock and youngsters Simon Buckley and Matthew Bate have been named emergencies as the club looks to get its first win of the season.
