SYDNEY Swans ruckman Shane Mumford is recovering well from minor surgery on his knee.
Mumford had an exploratory arthroscope on his right knee last week and is expected to resume running in early December.
It is the same knee Mumford injured in the Swans’ last game of the 2010 season, the semi-final loss to the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.
A scan after the game showed Mumford had injured his posterior cruciate ligament, but it didn’t require surgery.
Club physiotherapist Matt Cameron said there was persistent swelling in the knee during Mumford’s off-season training period, so another scan was ordered on his return to pre-season training last week.
That scan resulted in Mumford having an arthroscope to do a clean-up of some minor knee cartilage damage.
Cameron said the arthroscope found nothing of concern, and he is confident the knee will now settle completely.
Mumford is expected to resume full training in January.
