The Lions had seven multiple goal-kickers in last Saturday's win over Melbourne at Visy Park - Luke Power (3 goals), Claye Beams (2), Rohan Bewick (2), Tom Rockliff (2), Jesse O'Brien (2), James Polkinghorne (2) and Mitch Clark (2). Draftee Ryan Lester was the sole single goal-kicker for the Lions.
The Lions have trialled 35 players in practice matches so far this pre-season. Only five Lions senior-listed players are yet to experience any sort of official match practice including Captain Jonathan Brown, Josh Drummond, Xavier Clarke, Jamie Charman and Callum Bartlett.
The Lions will face new cross-town rivals the Gold Coast Suns for the first time since the new Queensland franchise officially formed in 2009.
The last time the Lions played at Southport was against Hawthorn during the 2010 NAB Challenge. The Lions prevailed on that occasion by 11 points in windy conditions.
The Lions currently have five players recruited from the Gold Coast including Vice Captain Daniel Merrett (Southport), Andrew Raines (Southport), Broc McCauley (Southport), Claye Beams (Labrador) and Bryce Retzlaff (Labrador).
Gold Coast midfielder Michael Rischitelli was awarded the Lions' 2010 Best and Fairest award back in September last year - only days after signing with the Suns.
Former Lions utility Jared Brennan was traded to the Gold Coast during the off-season in return for a selection of draft picks - including the prized Pick No.5 (Jared Polec) - and pre-listed player Rohan Bewick.
Gold Coast ruckman Joel Tippett spent three seasons on the Lions rookie list from 2007-2009.
