INJURY-plagued Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton has suffered another mishap, requiring stitches and suffering "minor concussion" after being knocked out in the VFL on Saturday.
Bombers football manager Paul Hamilton told AFL.com.au Gumbleton required a number of stitches after being concussed in the first quarter playing for Bendigo Gold against Werribee.
Gumbleton did not take any further part in the match following the incident.
"My report was that he had a couple of stitches, it was quite a number, something like 12, but I haven't had that confirmed yet," Hamilton said.
"He just had to get stitched up and he might have been a touch groggy.
"He might have some minor concussion, that's probably the term."
Gumbleton, the No.2 pick in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft, has endured a number of frustrating injuries that have restricted him to just 22 AFL games.

The VFL team has the bye this weekend but Hamilton said if Bendigo was playing, the medical staff would have carried out tests to determine his playing availability.
"If there was a game on this week, he would be monitored, he'd be tested, all those things they usually do when you get a knock to the head," he said.
"He'll certainly be monitored pretty heavily to see if he's right [for] the next game.
"The reality is, particularly after getting a heavy knock, he'll probably just have the week off."
Gumbleton has kicked five goals from five matches for the Gold this year.
Following its bye, Bendigo's next game is against North Ballarat on July 8.
