The Suns will recall Brown for the AAMI Stadium clash after sitting out the past four matches for two incidents in round three against the Western Bulldogs.
Aggression is a major part of Brown's game, but the 27-year-old said he would now be more careful with his attack on the footy.
"When you're out there playing you don't really think too much about it," Brown said. "I've seen the replays (of the incidents that got him suspended) and the game is changing and as players we need to adapt to that, whether it be rule changes or the way tribunal interprets things, so I'm just going to have to work a bit harder at that."
Brown received two matches for a behind-the-play elbow on Callan Ward, and another two matches for a head high bump on Barry Hall.
He said the three-match suspension received by Melbourne's Jack Trengove for a slinging tackle at the weekend was a further reminder on how the game had changed.
"I'll still try and keep that aggressive streak but as you saw with the Trengove suspension even with tackling and things like that you've got to be a lot more cautious these days, particularly around the ball when blokes have got their head over it," he said.
"I'm always trying to improve and it's not just skills and decision making, it's things like that as well."
Brown said missing the Suns' two victories against Port Adelaide and the Brisbane Lions had hurt him but he hadn't put his time to waste.
"It's given me a really good chance over the last month to work with a couple of guys and I've gone down and watched the reserves and done things like that which I probably wouldn't have done if I was playing," he said.
"I knew full well when I got the four matches there was a few winnable games in there. I've seen the side in the past month gel really well and I can't wait to be out there and in the thick of things and see how much we've improved."
Brown said the Suns would have to bring high energy to the match against the Crows to avoid another post-win letdown like they experienced against Essendon two weeks ago.
He said Gold Coast had learnt from Melbourne's hiding of Adelaide at the weekend.
"They're a well structured and disciplined side and we watched their game closely against Melbourne," he said.
"Melbourne did some really good things and highlighted some areas we can try and expose them in but they're going to come out as hard as ever. They’ve had a lot of pressure put on them this week and they need to bounce back and we need to continue our improvement and not do what we did against Essendon."
