The West Coast Eagles is supportive of the 2011 NAB Cup fixture released by the AFL this morning.

West Coast will play on the Sunday of the opening weekend, lining up against Hawthorn and then Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.

Chief executive officer Trevor Nisbett said the new format was a good initiative for the pre-season competition.

“The round-robin style arrangement is something different for footy fans.

“We’ve already received positive feedback from some of our supporters who are excited about getting to see us play two games in one night,” Nisbett said.

“We also appreciate the opportunity to play at home for the first round, minimising the travel load for the players during pre-season.”

West Coast captain Darren Glass said he looked forward to using the NAB Cup series to prepare for the home and away season.

“The NAB Cup is there for warming up for the season,” Glass said. “It’s about getting the time on the ground, so I’m very happy with the format.”
