West Coast star forwards Quinten Lynch and Jack Darling helped kick off Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week last Wednesday, meeting with avid Eagles fan and Centre for Cerebral Palsy patient, Val.

Val, 43, took the spotlight as one of this year’s CP Week stars - people with cerebral palsy who are also achievers.

Not only has Val overcome speech and mobility difficulties to lead an independent life, but she also has sporting aspirations of her own, being assistant coach to the Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club.

She never misses a match, sometimes catching a train and several buses, and travelling distances in her power wheelchair to get to a game.

Chief executive offcer at the Centre of Cerebral Palsy, Judy Hogben, said Val was an inspiration to all.

"We were honoured that Quinten and Jack took time during the season to mark the start of CP Week.

“I hope that they will inspire football fans like Val, and the wider community, to get involved in CP Week celebrations.”
