The weather was a little more welcoming for skills at Arden Street on Friday, with the sunny skies a stark contrast to the pouring rain and howling winds that forced the team indoors just two days earlier.

Brad Scott watched on with a keen eye as North's players competed strongly in a rotation of drills of high pressure and intensity.

Cameron Pedersen and Aaron Mullett joined the main group for the first time and they were thrown right into the thick of things, competing in every exercise set out.

While much of the focus was on short, sharp kicks and handballs, the introduction of gym and medicine balls made for a test of strength among the Roos' youngsters.

The players were exhausted, but the opportunity to enjoy some light-hearted match practice towards the end of the session made it all worthwhile.

Ben McKinley earned praise from assistant Darren Crocker for his attack on the ball, while Liam Anthony and Ben Ross showed no signs of the injuries that kept them on the sidelines for most of 2010.
