MELBOURNE'S Brock McLean has been suspended indefinitely from the club's leadership group after being booked for speeding on his way back from Melbourne’s NAB Challenge match in Bendigo.
Football manager Chris Connolly said the club thinks very highly of McLean, but has made it clear his behaviour was unacceptable.
"This is very disappointing for Brock," Connolly said.
"He is a highly valued member of the club, and his training form has been excellent in 2008. He is seen by the match committee to have outstanding leadership qualities, however this behaviour was deemed by his peers to be unacceptable."
McLean was banned from the club's temporary training venue at Trinity Grammar after doing a burnout in his V8 ute last month.
At the time McLean described it as a "stupid" act, revealing new Demons' coach Dean Bailey had urged him to stop behaving on impulse.
The 21-year-old was also dogged by controversy in the off-season with reports of bar-room trouble in Greece and Germany on an overseas trip in October.
The club has not imposed any playing sanction on McLean however, and said in a statement on Tuesday that he would be eligible for selection in this week’s NAB Challenge match against North Melbourne at Casey Fields.
