The 20 year-old from Keith in country South Australia has not missed a senior match since debuting against Geelong in Round 15 of 2009 and currently holds the second longest streak of consecutive matches (32 games) at the Club behind fellow 2008 draftee Daniel Rich (46 games).
Now he’s ready to take another step up together with the likes of Rich and the exciting group of other young players at the Club and take on greater responsibility for the team.
“We need to take the heat of some of the older boys,” Redden said.
“Us younger group of guys should be at the stage now where we can help more with the workload - both on and off the field.”
“We have a pretty strong group of guys who have played between 30-60 games now which gives you more confidence heading into the next season.”
After completing a full pre-season program, Redden’s training has been stunted somewhat following a minor hand injury suffered last week.
“I just copped a knock at training the other day. I went to take a mark and ended up getting a small fracture just below my knuckle,” he said.
“But it should only keep me out for about 2-3 weeks, so I should be back for a couple of pre-season games.”
“Fortunately I have built up a good base and I can still do all the running which means I’ll be fine fitness-wise.”
