During the second quarter against the Saints, Petrie was caught behind Sam Fisher as the ball was launched inside 50. Not one to ever be out of the contest, he used his opponent as a step-ladder and pulled down a brilliant mark.
It's the sixth time this season the North Melbourne vice-captain has been nominated for the Hungry Jack's AFL Mark of the Year - a remarkable achievement.
Fittingly, he went back and kicked truly from outside 50 to get his team off to a strong start.
