Last month, Reed signed a two-year deal with Collingwood to become the first rookie listed NSW player.
“He has been playing for the under 18’s Rams for the last two years”, said Danny Stevens who heads the coaching of the Rams.
Stevens spoke to collingwoodfc.com.au earlier in the week about Reed’s year.
“It was his second year in the side and so there were a lot of expectations placed on him.
“After playing last year, he was one of our better players and needed to step up to the plate this year and he did just that.
“He played mainly in the half-back position with occasional stints in the midfield.”
Reed signed as a NSW scholarship player for Collingwood in 2006 and has since worked with the club when he has travelled down to Melbourne.
He also accompanied the team on their preseason South African high-altitude training camp.
“Working with Collingwood over in South Africa proved beneficial to Reed’s development,” said Stevens.
Stevens has worked with Reed over the last two seasons and believes he will be an exciting player to watch in the coming future.
“He has a lot of talent. Still raw in a few areas but is a very exciting player to watch.
“He needs to put on a bit of size and a big pre-season with Collingwood should do that.”
