The Tigers are yet to register a win this season following four heavy defeats, but Mundy said Fremantle would be treating this week’s opponents like any other.
“We have our key focus areas that we try and do well in games,” Mundy said. “They will stay the same and it’s about getting a consistent message to our players to play the way we want to play and it doesn’t matter who we play.”
Mundy said Fremantle would be going through its usual processes leading up to the game, despite the team having played a Sunday twilight match in Melbourne last round.
“We will do what we have done every week,” he said. “We try to keep it consistent every week.”
Mundy said it would be important for Fremantle to maintain the same type of intensity and effort that the team had displayed so far this season going into every game.
“It’s all about trying to focus on what we want to do going into the game and how we want to play,” he said. “We want to try and play the Fremantle brand as much as we can, which over the first four weeks we have been doing pretty well.
“We know how we want to play football and we know if we want to win games we have measurable factors that help us get to that stage. That’s how we want to play football and how we want to be known around the league.”
Mundy said the young Tigers’ side was similar to Fremantle, with both clubs having gone through a large player turnover in the past two years.
“They will be a young and desperate side coming over here,” he said. “I’m sure they’d like to get a win under their belts, so it’s up to us to neglect them that and not let them get a win.”
Mundy said both he and the team had improved since last year, but that the challenge now was to continue getting better and build on the great start.
“The midfield group and the team in general have taken a big step forward with our organisation and winning the footy,” he said.
“We are looking forward to the next phase coming up after a pretty tough start to the year. “Hopefully we can keep that type of momentum up and win a few more games.”
This Sunday’s game will be the 15th installment of the club’s traditional Len Hall Game, which, in the past two years, has played host to two of Fremantle best performances, including the thrilling one-point loss to Geelong in 2008.
Mundy said playing on Anzac Day had always acted as a spur for Fremantle’s players.
“I know that a lot of the guys are desperate to play well on the Anzac weekend and the Len Hall Games are a big tradition at this club,” he said. “We want to put our best foot forward and we will definitely be doing the best we can to do that this week.”
