The Roos number one ruckman last year, McIntosh has had a wretched run with injury in 2011. After traveling to Utah for the club’s pre-season training camp, the 203 centimetre giant was unable to complete the running and drills due to a sore achilles and was booked in for surgery upon his return. While that injury healed, he received another blow with his other achilles flaring up and in need of the same operation.
Having spent three quarters of the season on the sidelines, the 26-year old has made his way back through the VFL with the Werribee Tigers and has displayed some strong form of late.
McIntosh will have the opportunity to celebrate his milestone and farewell deputy-vice captain Brady Rawlings.
He will front the media this afternoon - keep visiting kangaroos.com.au for his reaction and quotes.
McIntosh on:
Playing his 100th game and first match of 2011:
"I'm pretty excited, it’s been a long, hard grind this year having started the year with a couple of surgeries on my achilles…It's a bit of reward for effort, really. It's great to be able to come in and get one game - it's my 100th - so that's great. And its Brady's (Rawlings) last game, so I can't wait to get out there on Sunday.''
Trade speculation:
"Yes, I'm committed. I've signed a contract and I'm very happy at North Melbourne, they've been fantastic to me…It's all been what the media said from the outside but it’s more important to me what's been said on the inside. Between Brad and (football operations manager) Donald McDonald and all the football staff I'm very happy how it's tracking….I love North Melbourne and I look forward to hopefully playing here for another four or five years.''
Playing with Todd Goldstein:
"When Todd and I are both fit and firing - what I'm looking forward to next year is Todd having a full pre-season and me having a full pre-season (and both) getting into the side and being a really dangerous presence…But first of all I just want to get out there this week and play AFL footy again. It’s been a year since I've played and I just wait to get out there and play with the boys."
