This weekend’s West Coast side is almost certain to see at least one change from the side that beat Brisbane last Saturday night.

Small forward Mark LeCras is likely to miss the game against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium with a troublesome groin after he played just over an hour against the Lions, and pulled up sore post-match despite significant medical attention during the game.

Although he missed training on Monday, Daniel Kerr made it through the match unscathed and is almost certain to line up.

Fortunately for West Coast, they have a plethora of options when they sit down on Wednesday night to select the team.

Last weekend’s emergencies – Scott Selwood, Jamie McNamara and Chris Masten – are all in the mix, and Josh Kennedy, who missed because of a slight calf strain, will also be eager to debut for his new club.

“There’s a few sore ones, but probably LeCras is the major one, he’s pulled up a little bit sore, but we’ll just wait and see with him, the rest of them seem pretty good,” assistant coach Peter Sumich said before training on Monday.

“I suppose it’ll come out in the next couple of days, what the problem with Lecca is, but he’s just pulled up a little bit sore.

“I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet – we find all that information out tonight, and that’s the honest truth. The match committee hasn’t sat down with any of the doctors yet, so we’re just waiting on that.

“He’s been sore for a few weeks – he might be able to play on, or he might just have to have a little break.”

Attention will now turn to his likely replacement, with West Coast having the option of making a direct replacement, or pushing a player of Andrew Embley’s class and ability forward and slotting a new player into the midfield, or even going for more height.

Sumich said it would be a tough choice.

“You’re probably looking at the three emergencies, Josh Kennedy now will come into contention, and maybe one or two others – (Ben) McKinley and (Matt) Spangher.”
