PORT Adelaide defender Jackson Trengove has escaped serious injury with a gruesome looking arm complaint not thought to be a fracture.

In the dying minutes of the match against St Kilda, Trengove sported an ugly bulge protruding from his forearm after an incident with St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt.

Fighting to keep the ball from the clutches of Riewoldt, Trengove dived at the footy and was trampled on inadvertently and came from the ground immediately.

However, despite fears the 20-year-old had suffered a fracture, Port Adelaide later said it was confident it was just a ruptured blood vessel/haematoma.

Trengove will have precautionary scans on Monday.
