Collingwood has recalled John Anthony and Simon Prestigiacomo for Saturday night’s match against Brisbane at the Gabba.
Anthony comes in for an injured Leon Davis (calf) while Prestigiacomo returns to the side for Nathan Brown (omitted).
A weekend off from AFL/VFL competition means Anthony should be feeling fresh for his fourth senior game this season. After playing in the first two rounds of the year, the 22-year-old featured in the Fremantle win before missing last week’s loss to Geelong.
Also set to play his fourth game in his 15th season at the AFL level, Prestigiacomo returns after finding match fitness in the VFL (two games). The 223-game veteran has overcome quad and groin complaints this year and is now deemed fully fit to return to the side.
Named in last year’s All-Australian forward line, Davis will miss the trip due to a minor calf injury.
Speaking to collingwoodfc.com.au on Thursday afternoon, Collingwood’s chief of football Geoff Walsh believes the lively forward should be in the mix for a return next week.
“He strained his calf during last week’s match but we expect him to be available for next week’s clash against the Western Bulldogs.”
Brown joins Tarkyn Lockyer and Jaxson Barham as the three named emergencies.
