The 20-year-old, who battled form and injury problems last year, came off in the second quarter of the 28-point loss after feeling tightness in his hamstring.
An MRI scan has since revealed the muscle is intact and has not been torn.
Myers missed the last month of the 2009 season with an ankle problem and has endured hamstring troubles across the summer.
His first season at Windy Hill in 2008 was also littered with hamstring problems early on and a foot issue later disrupted an otherwise promising debut year.
Defender Tyson Slattery has also received a positive report from the medical staff after injuring his wrist against the Swans.
Further investigation has revealed a chipped bone but he has been told he will not require surgery and can resume full training in a fortnight.
"He will need to keep his wrist still for a little while, so his training program will obviously be modified as a result," football operations manager Paul Hamilton told the club's website.
"It was disappointing for us because he had showed some good signs but, given the circumstances, we are looking forward to seeing him back sooner rather than later."
Leroy Jetta is the only other player on the club's injury list after having surgery to repair the thumb he dislocated two weeks ago.
He will be able to maintain his fitness base over the next six weeks but will be removed from skill work.
The club is optimistic he will recover sufficiently to offer something during the season proper.
"We know he has had a really good pre-season and he is the fittest he has ever been so we will modify his program so he will be able to maintain that fitness in preparation for when he returns," Hamilton said.
The Bombers will play their final match of the pre-season against Richmond on Saturday afternoon in the La Trobe Valley town of Morwell.
They then open their premiership season campaign against Geelong on Friday 26 March.
David Myers is a $188,900 defender in this year's Toyota AFL Dream Team.
