SUMMARY
Adelaide and Gold Coast are both anchored in the bottom four but seem to be heading in different directions late in the season.
The appointment of Mark Bickley as the Crows' interim coach following Neil Craig's resignation has rejuvenated Adelaide, with two wins and a gallant 11-point loss to Geelong since he took over.
Meanwhile, the young Suns have hit a wall after a brutal month that saw them lose to recent grand finalists Collingwood, St Kilda and Geelong before being humbled in last Saturday's QClash against the Brisbane Lions.
The teams met in round eight with Adelaide 57-point victors, but it was far from one-way traffic.
Led by Gary Ablett's sublime 41-disposal, four-goal game, the Suns led by 25 points during the first quarter and only poor kicking (9.19) kept them out of the contest in the second half.
This is Adelaide's second trip to Queensland in a fortnight after its five-point win over the Lions in round 20, while Gold Coast is desperate to crack its duck at Metricon Stadium.
QUESTION MARKS
Will the Suns respond to Guy McKenna's bake? For the first time this season the Gold Coast coach was publicly disappointed with his team after losing at Metricon Stadium. He questioned their effort and intensity and has demanded a better showing over the final three weeks.
Can the Crows keep the intensity they showed against Geelong? No one was surprised when Adelaide lifted under Bickley to win the Showdown against Port Adelaide before backing up against the Lions, but their performance against the Cats turned a few heads. The Crows have set a new benchmark for intensity and four-quarter effort they will be keen to repeat against the Suns.
PREDICTION
Adelaide by 25 points
TOYOTA AFL DREAM TEAM WATCH
Gold Coast full-back Nathan Bock's season is going from strength to strength. He scored 103 points against the Lions last week to take his season average to a tick less than 80 a game. Closer inspection sees him averaging 92 for the past eight weeks and at $337,200 still might be good value late in the season.
Rory Sloane ($330,500) has been on fire for the Crows. His 137 points against Geelong rocketed his value up another $25,900. He has averaged 107 points a game in the past three weeks.
