There will be an extra touch of blue at the 2008 LeasePlan Western Bulldogs Community Festival & Family Day when Victoria Police band Code 1 performs on stage.

Code 1 and the Victorian Pipe band are just a few of the entertainment acts on offer at the Whitten Oval on Sunday 9th March for what is the official beginning of the Western Bulldogs 2008 Home and Away season.

Senior Constable James Risdale is looking forward to Victoria Police’s involvement at the upcoming event and said the band was eagerly awaiting their performance.

“Hopefully we can get a few people dancing to their songs when they are on the big stage,” Risdale said.

“Constable T Bear will be on hand to entertain the kids and we will also have a variety of emergency services vehicles on display too.

Our association with the Western Bulldogs is important and we hope that the Community Festival & Family Day will be as successful as past events we have been involved in with the club.”

Manager, Events, Anna Mitchell, said Victoria Police’s involvement was another highlight of the event.

“We enjoy a strong partnership with Victoria Police through our community programs and their presence will provide plenty of entertainment for what we hope will be a big crowd,” Mitchell said.

The day will also provide members and supporters with an opportunity to meet their favourite Bulldogs player. With the entire team and coaching group in attendance, this event is a great way to get an autograph or photo as the players mingle with fans.

Another feature includes a FREE showerhead exchange program that was announced last week by the Western Bulldogs and City West Water.

By bringing your old showerhead (and a copy of your water bill) and exchanging it for a brand new 3-star showerhead you will save 13,500 litres of water per year, as well as additional savings on water and energy bills.

Don’t forget, you can view progress of the near complete Elite Learning Centre and see just how the Whitten Oval Redevelopment is taking shape, enjoy multicultural performances, purchase your 2008 membership or get the latest merchandise.
