Bock was rumoured to be on the Suns’ hit list, but the All-Australian centre half-back denied he’d had any approaches from the league’s newest team or any other rival club.
“Adelaide gave me the opportunity to play AFL, coming off the rookie list, so it would be nice [to be a one-club player],” Bock said on Wednesday.
“The media have been talking about that sort of stuff for most of the year now. I’m not sure where they get a lot of their information from and [me going to Gold Coast] is news to me.
“My manager has been in contact with the club and I’m confident with where it’s at. It will look after itself in due time, but there’s no reason not to [stay at Adelaide].”
Rumours have persisted that the out-of-contract defender would be moving to the AFL's 17th team in season 2011, and crescendoed on the Nine Network's Footy Classified show where it was strongly mooted his time in Adelaide was over.
But Bock's latest assurances appear to have scotched those stories.
Picked at No. 25 in the 2002 NAB Rookie Draft, Bock made his debut in 2004. He has played 110 games and was named in the 2008 All-Australian team.
Injury has disrupted Bock's last two seasons, limiting him to 14 games in 2009 and 10 so far this year.
The 27-year-old said his wretched run had been one of the reasons behind his decision to put off contract talks until now.
“My season has been a bit interrupted by injury, so I really just wanted to get some continuity in my football and to concentrate solely on that,” he said.
I’ve been in no rush to move things on, but my manager has been in contact with the club and vice-versa and we’re comfortable with where it’s at.”
Contrary to reports, the club says promising onballer Patrick Dangerfield has not put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, but has agreed to terms and is expected to sign in the coming days.
