ESSENDON and Carlton will both need to call for reinforcements at the crunch points of their AFL season after losing key players to suspension.

Bomber Dustin Fletcher and Blue Jarrad Waite have both accepted two-match bans, opting against fighting their charges and the potential of missing a third match should the tribunal have found them guilty of their offences.

As a result, the tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night, with all players charged from weekend matches accepting their sanctions.

However the Bombers and the Blues face the greatest repercussions.

The loss of Fletcher comes on top of the likely season-ending injury to fellow Essendon defender Tayte Pears.

That means Matthew Knights will likely have to shift young gun Michael Hurley to the backline, or perhaps promote others from the VFL to aid recently-returned defender Cale Hooker.

Essendon, 10th on the ladder and struggling to stay in touch with the top eight, meets Adelaide (AAMI) and Melbourne (MCG) in its next two games.

Waite will serve his third suspension of the year, meaning the Blues will be without two big men from the team that ran out against Fremantle on Saturday night after the season-ending knee injury to ruckman Matthew Kreuzer.

Fremantle’s Kepler Bradley also took an early plea for striking Carlton's Bret Thornton but he won’t miss a match.

Andrew Carrazza was fined for making contact with an umpire, while a raft of players were hit with fines resulting in the melee from the Brisbane Lions-Richmond clash at the Gabba.

Michael Rischitelli, Sam Sheldon, Jake King and Jack Riewoldt are all lighter in the wallet after their half time stoush.

The Blues play the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs in their next two matches, both at Etihad Stadium.

Sanctions Accepted:

Kepler Bradley, Fremantle, has accepted a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record for striking Bret Thornton, Carlton, during the third quarter of the round 13 match between Fremantle and Carlton, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday June 19, 2010. Jarrad Waite, Carlton, has accepted a two-game sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Paul Duffield, Fremantle, during the fourth quarter of the Round 13 match between Carlton and Fremantle, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday June 19, 2010.
