The talk before the season of the Bombers as serious premiership
contenders and a top 4 finisher have died away pretty fast. The Bombers have started off the year with 2 losses. Against Port Adelaide they kicked 8.14.62 and today against St Kilda they put together 8.12.60. Clearly, the team is not kicking scores that will win many football games.

The best for the Bombers reads Hird, Lucas, Reynolds, Ramanauskas and Rioli. Hird looks sets for a big season leading from the front. Lucas is following up his form from last year. Reynolds has stepped up. Rama is an absolute bonus for the club. Rioli has that spark about him that adds something special to the team.

In terms of goal kickers Lucas slotted 4 along with 4 behinds. If he had kicked strighter he could have had 6-7 goals and been the match winner. Hird had 2 goals, and Lloyd and Hille got 1 each. Lloyd has started slowly and no one would doubt him, but plenty of talk before season suggested he could collect the leading goal kicker medal now. It's a long season and everyone wants to beat him. Next week he needs to respond with what he does best - kicking 5-6 goals.

It is never a good sign when players return from injury only to hurt
themselves again. Both Mark Johnson and Mark McVeigh re-injured their hamstrings. And the Bombers have more injury concerns with Wellman, Welsh, Haynes and Watson. The medical team at Bomberland have their work cut out to get these guys fit and playing football.

All the Bombers can do now is focus on next week and the West Coast Eagles at the Dome. It's simply time to start earning respect.
