MELBOURNEfc has selected two youngsters to make their AFL debuts against the Hawks on Sunday evening.

After the final team was submitted to the AFL on Friday, Cale Morton and Isaac Weetra will both pull on the red and blue guernseys for the first time, in what is exciting news for all Melbourne supporters.

Morton is a quick and agile midfielder, who was taken with the number four draft pick in the 2007 National Draft.  He has performed to a high standard throughout the pre-season, and has been rewarded with his Round One senior spot.

Issac Weetra has capped off an outstanding and determined summer pre-season to be selected for Round One.  After being picked with Melbourne’s last selection in the 2006 National Draft, Weetra has developed strongly under the guidance of new senior coach Dean Bailey, and will look to display his speed and dangerous goal sense on Sunday.

In a welcome start to the season, Melbourne will be led by the experience of captain David Neitz,  along with Jeff White, James McDonald, Russell Robertson, and Adem Yze.

After performing well for Sandringham in the VFL last week, Cameron Bruce has overcome his knee complaint and will return, along with Paul Wheatley.

The emergencies for the match are Jace Bode, James Frawley and Mark Jamar
