Geelong’s second unit suffered its heaviest defeat since joining the VFL, going down to North Ballarat by 132 points on Saturday.
It marked sweet revenge for the Roosters who had been knocked out by the Cats in the past two finals series.
Geelong registered just 7.10 (52) to 29.10 (184), and coach Leigh Tudor couldn’t hide his disappointment.
"We were pretty disappointed," Tudor told the Geelong Advertiser.
"Last week we played a side where we had 15 or 16 guys that we realistically thought we could put in the best. Today after four (players), I really struggled to find winners on the ground.
"It was disappointing that so many guys were beaten by their direct opponent. There's a few reasons for a few blokes doing what they did, but we found out a bit about a few guys today.
"It was really good to see David Johnson play really well again and Shane Mumford really present as a centre half-forward, which he's never really played.
"Drew Barnes I thought probably could have kicked seven in the end if he had have kicked straight. There was still a couple of positives, but the negatives far out-weighed the positives this week. We don't want being first-year players and being young (to be used) as an excuse. We still want them to learn as quickly as possible we want them to play, so the pressure's on."
