Kicks 18 / Marks 8 / Handballs 4 / Goals 4 / Tackles 3
For the second time in three weeks Robbie Gray has been named the Power SANFL Player of the Week. Not content to rest on his laurels, Robbie has put in another four-goal performance that’s sure to catch the eye of the Power’s match committee.Port Adelaide Football Club development coach, Darren Trevena is impressed with the way that Robbie is learning and taking everything on board.“He is applying everything (that he is taught at the Power) well, the thing he needs to do now is to build up his fitness base. He’ll be pushing for selection if he keeps this form up,” Trevena told PortAdelaideFC.com.au.“He reads the in-close game very well. He sees it early and plays it accordingly. The rain came for a bit of the match but his ball handling skills were excellent.“The interesting fact was he presented well and took marks to kick goals and he also got goals from his crumbing work. He pushed into the middle in the last quarter and got several clearances as he tried to get West back into the game. He tackled very well and is a very smart player.”Along with Robbie Gray, Darren Trevena was glowing in his praise for many of the Power players in the SANFL...Ryan Willits (West Adelaide)
K 15 / M 12 / HB 3 / G 1 / T 2
“Ryan was unlucky not to be named the player of the week. He had a very good game. His work rate was excellent and he presented well and showed good aggression.”Adam Cockshell (Norwood)
K 3 / M 0 / HB 5 / G 1 / T 1
“Adam had a pretty ordinary day by his standards. He needs to relax and enjoy the game.”Nick Lower (Norwood)
K 2 / M 1 / HB 5 / G 0 / T 0
“He played on Cupido at full back. His body on body work was excellent. He adjusted his positioning but it was a tough job.”Fabian Deluca (Sturt)
K3 / M 2 / HB 4 / G 1 / T 1
“Fabian was very, very good. He was aggressive, he rucked well against Lindsay and hunted the ball. He really stood up against the State ruckman and showed he can mix it with the best.”Peter Hardy (Sturt)
K2 / M 2 / HB 1 / G 0 / T 1
“He didn’t get much of an opportunity with limited time in the ground due to match ups.”Nathan Batsanis (Eagles)
K 12 / M 5 / HB 9 / G 1 / T 1
“Nathan backed up his good work from the week before. He worked hard both defensively and offensively. It was good to see some consistency at a high level.”Paul Stewart (Eagles)
K 13 / M 6 / HB 8 / G 0 / T 1
“He probably wasn’t as good as previous weeks. He ran and carried the ball in a solid game.”Justin Westhoff (Centrals)
K 13 / M 11 / HB 3 / G 3 / T 2
“Justin’s game was very exciting. His work-rate was excellent and he created lots of opportunities to finish with three goals six. It was a good game by him.”Jonathan Giles (Centrals)
K 7 / M 4 / HB 0 / G 0 / T 0
“Jonathan wasn’t as good as in previous weeks. He struggled against a bigger body but he’ll learn and develop from the encounter.”Tom Logan (Glenelg)
K 8 / M 6 / HB 9 / G 1 / T 1
“It was Tom’s first game back from injury and he worked hard all day.”Travis Boak (Glenelg)
K 10 / M 9 / HB 12 / G 0 / T 0
“Travis had a poor first quarter but then got moving. He played on the wing and struggled a bit with the new position in the windy conditions.”Alipate Carlile (South Adelaide)
K 6 / M 2 / HB 6 / G 0 / T 1
“Alipate was very good on a quick, small opponent. He adjusted his game to suit and won his position. He provided plenty of run and linked up well.”Alex Lee (Sturt reserves)
“Alex played a bit of centre half-back and centre half-forward. He had a fair game by his standards. His positioning was good.”Ryan Williams (Centrals reserves)
“Ryan’s game was solid again and he worked off half-back and off the ball. He’s working to getting a league game.”Hugh Minson (Norwood reserves)
“Hugh was good for the full game in the ruck and up forward. He had the opportunity to kick five goals but finished with two. His marking was really good and he’s developing nicely with some good game time.”Make sure you visit PortAdelaideFC.com.au next Monday, to get the latest from Darren Trevena on the Power players in the SANFL.
