MELBOURNE players Liam Jurrah and Daniel Bell will have scans on Sunday to determine the extent of shoulder injuries sustained in the Demons’ two-point loss to Adelaide on Saturday.

Jurrah dislocated a shoulder when going to ground in the NAB Challenge match in Elizabeth. Bell, who was sidelined in 2009 with a shoulder injury, dislocated an AC joint in a collision with an Adelaide player.

The injuries are a further blow to the Demons, who lost emerging wingman Cale Morton last Saturday for up to 10 weeks with a knee injury.

Football manager Chris Connolly said Bell’s injury appeared to be more serious at this stage, but scans will confirm the damage on Sunday.

Midfielder Nathan Jones also left the ground at one stage with what appeared to be an injured ankle, but Connolly said there was nothing more than general soreness among the rest of the group.

Bell, 24, was sidelined until round 10 last season with a broken thumb and dislocated his shoulder in round 15 and didn’t return. The hard-working defender has played 66 games.

Forward Jurrah, the first player picked at the 2009 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, played nine games in his debut season and booted 20 goals.
