Having had two knee reconstructions early in his career with the Swans, Heath has played only two AFL games after being drafted in 2008.? ?
He was delisted at the end of last season, but given another chance on the club's rookie list.? ?
The 21-year-old stayed injury free in 2012, playing every game in the Swans' reserves without adding to his senior tally.
Hailing from Maffra in Victoria, Heath is a childhood friend of Port key forward John Butcher.
Butcher was clearly delighted to be re-united with his junior teammate on Friday morning.
"Welcome to [Port Adelaide] to the legend Campbell Heath!! Heath to Butcher just like old times!!" Butcher tweeted.
Power football manager Peter Rohde said the club was impressed with Heath's resilience through a series of setbacks.
"He's overcome some injuries and the harsh reality of facing the end of his career, before grabbing a lifeline and producing a really consistent year in 2012, particularly in the second half of the season and during finals," Rohde said.
"We think that's a credit to him and a sign his knee and body are sound and he has plenty of football in front of him.
"While he didn't get to play at the top level in the last year, he showed the talent that got him drafted and saw him play two AFL games in 2010, which was his first full year in the system.
"We're sure he'll take the opportunity that we can give him at Alberton to get back to the AFL level."??
