The dreams of a young seven year-old boy from regional Victoria came true today when he fielded a telephone call from Lions Captain Jonathan Brown who told him he had been voted as the #1 Lions fan!

Tyson Cromie from Benalla, located North-East of Melbourne, was today revealed as the #1 Lions Fan in Australia following a nation-wide search that has lasted six weeks.

Tyson beat hundreds of entries to take out the inaugural title and he couldn't be more excited. The occasion even warranted a day off from school.

Tyson's father Tim, who is a long-time Fitzroy supporter, said Tyson had been a fan ever since he could hold a ball.

"When Jonathan Brown telephoned Tyson today, he was in shock," Tim Cromie said.

"He had a smile from ear to ear and could barely speak to Browny. It was definitely a dream-come-true moment and one he will never forget."

"He's got one cracking 'Show and Tell' for Monday at school!", he said.

The national search to find the #1 Lions Fan - the person most passionate and the character most colourful in their commitment to the Brisbane Lions - was launched on Monday 5 July and has uncovered hundreds of true Lionhearts.

From all over Australia there have been more than 250 video entries uploaded to the competition page and 500 photographs have been taken at recent games.

Next weekend, Tyson will fly with his dad to Brisbane for fan-fare like no other surrounding the Lions' Round 22 match against the Sydney Swans at the Gabba.

He is being rewarded with an ultimate Brisbane Lions experience including exclusive access to a Lions training session, seats near the interchange bench alongside the umpires and ground manager, inner-sanctum access on match-day and much more.

He will also have the opportunity to meet all the Lions players, run onto the field with Lions mascot Bernie 'Gabba' Vegas and then be interviewed by the Match Day MC in front of the Gabba crowd!

This type of access into the heart of the Club has never been offered to a Brisbane Lions fan before.

The Lions look forward to Tyson's visit.
