PORT ADELAIDE skipper Warren Tredrea is confident the Power have picked a team capable of applying the four quarter pressure required to secure their first win of the season.

Tough nuts Tom Logan and Adam Thomson have been brought into the side to take on West Coast, along with super impressive midfielder/forward Nathan Krakouer.

Danyle Pearce has been sent back to the SANFL for the first time since making his debut in 2005 and Matt Thomas (plantar fascia) and Paul Stewart have also dropped out. However, Stewart travelled to WA with the team on Friday afternoon.

“Logan, Thomson and Krakouer are all in good form,” Tredrea said on Friday.

“Krakouer has been in exceptional form with the Magpies. Logan was unlucky to miss a fortnight ago and, unfortunately, he didn’t get a chance to push himself up there again by playing on the weekend.

“Thomson is probably in the best form of everyone. He’s had two … best on ground performances in the SANFL. He applies midfield pressure going both ways and that’s something we’re definitely working on.”

Port Adelaide’s inexperienced defence came under fire during the week, after conceding nine last-quarter goals against the Lions.

But Tredrea said blame for the distinct lack of pressure had to be shared throughout the playing group.

“There’s no point singling anyone out,” he said.

“The facts are, as forwards we haven’t been doing our job as best we can. The midfield hasn’t either and our defence - for a young inexperienced group that everyone wants to criticise - I think both the midfielders and forwards have really let them down.

“When the ball is coming like it was last week, even though it was wet, there’s not much those defenders could’ve done."

West Coast has made a host of changes following last week’s loss to the Swans with David Wirrpanda, Chad Fletcher and Andrew Embley returning, but Tredrea supported coach Mark Williams’ decision to make just two unforced moves.

“As a senior player, you would say the majority of things we did last week were right. That last quarter was disappointing, but you can only reward people who have had stellar form in the SANFL and we’ve done that with the guys we’ve brought in,” he said.

“We just have to give Choco a four quarter contribution this week. We gave three quarters last week and it proved that isn’t good enough.”
