SWANS players Ryan O’Keefe and Craig Bolton have stated that Collingwood are their bogey side and the side needs to work on its strategies and play a lot better if they are to beat the Magpies in their next encounter.
Collingwood has beaten Sydney the last four times these two sides have met and on each occasion it has been a convincing victory.
“They definitely have got the wood over us now there is no doubt about that,” Bolton said. “We can’t hide from that and it is going to make it difficult for us and a big challenge next time we play them.
“They have beaten us in the last four games now quite convincingly. Why that happens we will have to address and next time we play them turn it round.”
O’Keefe was in agreement.
“We don’t play well against them,” O’Keefe said. “They are our bogey side.
“We played into their hands in the first three quarters by moving the ball slowly and in the last quarter we just ran the ball more and took our chances. Who knows if we hadn’t missed some set shots at goal we might have won.
“It was a good reality check.”
The Swans had 11 scoring shots in the last quarter but only converted four of those opportunities. Michael O’Loughlin, Kieran Jack and Barry Hall all missed good chances to kick goals with the latter attempting a banana kick from 25 metres out when he should have turned on his left foot.
“We will analyse that this week and there was probably a lot of areas we were beaten on the night so we will have a look at that,” Bolton said
“We struggled to get any penetration into our forward line. It was disappointing because they jumped us early and could have got off to a better start if they had have kicked straight.”
O’Keefe said the team was still in a buoyant mood despite the loss.
“We had won six weeks in a row previous to last night so it was only one slip up,” O’Keefe said.
“The fact is we are still fourth on the ladder and I would rather be in our position than a lot of other clubs in the competition.”
