The result of an MRI on Geelong forward Steve Johnson has revealed a cracked bone in his ankle. A pin has been inserted to aid with his recovery. Steve will not require plaster and he will work with the club’s medical staff to rehabilitate the injury.
“We will monitor Steve’s condition but will not be rushing him back into action,” Geelong football operations manager Garry Davidson said.
“Steve’s recovery will be assisted by the pin that was inserted and we see this as a short term set back. We are encouraged by the fact that Steve will not require plaster and he will begin non-weight activity training inside the next two weeks.”
Johnson has played 27 matches – including 15 games and a six-goal haul against the Brisbane Lions in 2003 – since making his debut in 2002. He was drafted by the Cats at No.24 in the 2001 National AFL Draft.
