Rich, off-contract at the end of the season, said this week: "Hopefully, the club [and my manager] are going to talk in the coming weeks or months. I don't know the exact date, but I love the club and I love playing with all the boys here up in Brisbane.
"I'm definitely looking forward to the years to come at the footy club. We've got a young list, good leaders and a good coach, so the footy club is on a good track.
"I can't wait to push forward with the club and hopefully win a premiership with the club in the years to come."
Lions General Manager of Football Operations, Dean Warren, said the re-signing of Rich, as well as a number of promising youngsters, was well and truly on the Club's radar.
"We have an incredibly talented group of young players who have emerged in recent years and we will commence discussions with those players in due course," said Warren.
"While the Club is yet to start any negotiations we certainly haven't postponed them due to certain factors.
"We are genuinely excited about the future of those players and the roles they can play at this Club."
The Lions will kick off their NAB Cup campaign against St Kilda and Essendon at Etihad Stadium on February 18.
