It was a great win by the boys last Saturday against Port Adelaide. We were able to jump them early and it was great to see a few of the young guys like Tom Rockliff and James Polkinghorne earn a call-up from the ressies and play such an influential role in the senior side.

We flew into Adelaide a day earlier than usual which gave us pretty much the entire Friday afternoon to ourselves (normally we would have team meetings and then a training session).

With this free time, myself and Jimmy Hawksley caught up with our former Lions team-mate Wayde Mills who is currently playing good in the SANFL with Glenelg. It was the first time in about a year since I had seen him. He seems to be enjoying life in SA.

I have to say it’s a great environment to be in at the moment at the Gabba. The mood is fantastic after winning the first three games and the challenge of facing the Bulldogs this weekend is really exciting. Hopefully a big crowd comes out this Saturday night to see two good teams go head-to-head and cheer loudly for the Lions.

I am currently living with fellow Lions Tom Collier and Matt Austin. They are two good guys to live with as they both have a good sense of humour. I’m just trying to encourage Tommy to lift his game with the chores around the house at the moment. However, I must admit he’s made some improvements in this area since living with Matty Austin who would rival many housewives with his ability to do housework.

The three of us have spent a lot of time lately watching the TV series ‘Sons of Anarchy’. We got our hands on the series from Dan Comerford who is one of our Strength and Conditioning coaches. Basically the show is about a bikie gang and follows their life as outlaws. A fair few boys have jumped on board and are getting right into it at the moment.

It’s coming to a good time of the year if you’re a basketball fan. The NBA playoffs are just around the corner which has sparked the interest of a fair few Lions players - including myself. Unfortunately my team - the Detroit Pistons - are no chance of making the Playoffs, but I’m sure this year’s series will make for some interesting viewing which will be enjoyed by a few of the boys.

I read Tom Rockliff’s blog last week and saw that he wasn’t entirely happy with my ‘Best 22’ which I picked as part of an AFL website column a week or two ago.

He gave me a bit of stick about it when he read it because I didn’t include Browny, Luke or Blacky. In my defence, I must say that I tried to make room for those three but picking that team was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.

I’m certainly regretting not having Browny in that team after his first three games and I ummed and ahhed over Blacky considering he is the most decorated player in the game at the moment. Maybe I tried a little bit too much to remain unbiased.
