FREMANTLE assistant coach Chris Scott has ruled himself out of taking a development coaching role with the Gold Coast franchise and says he is committed to Fremantle.
"Yes I have (ruled myself out)," Scott said.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for the right person but in my view I am nine months into my coaching career and to put my name forward for that position would be the wrong thing to do.
"I am very committed to Fremantle and we have a long term plan that I'm keen to stay a part of."
Scott also declared Rhys Palmer a certain starter to take on Port Adelaide on Sunday as his side aims for two wins in a row.
After missing last Sunday's win over Melbourne, it had been flagged that Palmer could require knee surgery that would end his sensational first AFL season, but he will now play at AAMI Stadium after getting through two training sessions during the week.
"With the problem he's got it is questionable whether or not he needs surgery," Scott said before the team flew out to Adelaide on Friday.
"It's a possibility, but we will just manage him and it makes his first season even more remarkable given that he has done it with this problem. Our medical staff made the call that he's right to go and we will back them in."
Last time the sides met at Subiaco Oval it was when both Fremantle and Port Adelaide were in the midst of choking stages, with the Power coming away winners after a big final quarter and Scott knows even though Port is coming off a Showdown, Fremantle faces an uphill battle to win.
"Mark Williams was right when he said they were one of the better sides outside of the eight and our view supports that," he said.
"They played in the grand final last year so they obviously have some talent, have had a few issues and it just goes to show what a fine line it is from being a contender to being out of the race pretty early on. There are no easy games now and it's always a tough ask at AAMI no matter which side you play."
