NORTH Melbourne skipper Brent Harvey has been chastised by coach Brad Scott following Harvey's name-and shame comments in the aftermath of the team's huge loss to Collingwood.

In a radio interview after the game, Harvey took aim at Sam Wright and Lachie Hansen, saying he was running out of time as he waited for the players to reach the next level.

Scott was unimpressed with the comments, telling the Herald Sun: "It will never happen again. He's apologised to the players concerned."

Scott said the comments were "totally out of character", and Harvey was typically "unbelievably supportive of our young guys".

"It was born out of frustration and embarrassment. He made a mistake and it was dealt with very quickly. We certainly won't tolerate people putting the blame on individuals.

"He meant to say, 'players like Lachie Hansen, players like Sam Wright'."

North chairman James Brayshaw also weighed in, saying the outburst was "unacceptable".

"He would be disappointed now that he did that. He was probably pretty wound up," Brayshaw said.

"He got caught up in being pretty angry and pretty disappointed, but if you asked him today he would say he shouldn't have named any players.

"I am sure 'Boomer' got hold of those boys and explained he didn't mean anything personally by it. No one likes us getting belted by 87 points. That is not acceptable for our club," he said.
