The Haze is Back

Saturday’s match is the 2008 Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly supported by Fremantle Ports.

Launched in 2003, the annual Starlight Purple Haze Game has raised more than $150,000 to date for the Starlight Children’s Foundation thanks to the generous donations of the Fremantle members and supporters.

In the spirit of the Starlight Purple Haze Game, Subiaco Oval becomes a sea of purple for this one special match and raises much needed funds for seriously ill and hospitalised children in Western Australia.

The game will also see one lucky supporter crowned the best dressed fan in the ‘Purple Play Off’! Members and supporters are asked to register with 92.9 outside gate 8 before the 5.40pm bouncedown and five finalists will take part in a ‘Purple Play Off’ at half time.

To be eligible to enter – you have to wear PURPLE! Members and supporters wishing to enter must register with club sponsor 92.9 – Perth’s Hit Music Station at gate 8 before the 5.40pm bouncedown on 29 March.

The road runners will select finalists from those who register before bouncedown and to take part in the ‘Purple Play Off’ which will be hosted by 92.9’s Wippa on ground at half time. The winner will be the one who attracts the loudest applause from the crowd as they are introduced. The winner will walk away with an LG portable DVD player and LG 4MG touchscreen MP3 Player.

So, if you believe you are wearing enough purple to be in with a chance, head towards gate 8 before bouncedown and register! If not, head out to the clubs merchandise stands located at gates 8, 10, 12, 19, 22 or 26 before bouncedown and purple yourself.

This year’s Starlight Ambassadors are Des Headland, Aaron Sandilands, Ryan Murphy and Chris Tarrant. The group has been spreading their Starlight magic by making surprise visits to the children’s wards across Perth with the help of Captain Starlight and spending quality time cheering up the kids.
