Club Captain Matthew Pavlich is a Round 18 nominee for the 2008 Toyota AFL Goal of the Year.

Matthew received the nomination for his third goal against West Coast. Mark Johnson fed the ball out from a pack on the ground to Matthew who pushed off Jamie McNamara before baulking Brent Staker and kicking truly from just inside the forward 50.

In 2008, the winners of the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will each receive;
•    The use of a TRD Aurion for 12 months, presented by Toyota   
•    $5,000 for their grassroots club, presented by Toyota
•    A crystal replica of the official perpetual Toyota AFL Mark & Goal of the Year trophies
•    The Alex Jesaulenko Medal (mark) and Phil Manassa Medal (goal)

At the end of the 22 round Toyota AFL Premiership Season, the AFL All-Australian Selection Committee will decide the overall winners' from the pool of weekly nominations in each category.
