The Roadshow sees all players, coaches and staff visit schools around metropolitan Adelaide where they hold assemblies promoting healthy lifestyle messages and run footy clinics where students get the chance to have a kick with their heroes.
So far, the club has visited more than 6,500 kids from over 20 schools, with each child receiving a poster with a special ticket offer attached.
Through the first two Roadshows alone, the club has had almost 600 kids redeem the ticket offer, which is valid for a family ticket to Port Adelaide’s first home game for 2011 - against West Coast on Saturday April 2.
Power chief executive officer Mark Haysman said it was great to see the club pull together to visit schools and spread healthy living messages.
“Seeing the smiles on kids’ faces when we arrive at the school and take them for a clinic is brilliant,” Haysman said.
“It’s extremely rewarding for everyone at the club and we’re delighted at the number of people redeeming the free ticket offer to see us play in Round 2 at AAMI Stadium.
“This is part of our wider plan to engage with as many kids across Adelaide as we can and give them an experience they’ll hopefully remember for a long time. We are building the next generation of Port Adelaide supporters and we have been delighted with the response from our school blitz so far.”
The final Planet Teal Roadshow for 2011 will take place on March 15.
