Long-serving Team Manager Barry Lowe has advised the Lions that he will be moving on after 22 years as a valuable member of the Club's support staff.

Lowe started with the Club back in 1989 as the Team Manager of the then Brisbane Bears' reserves side before being elevated to Team Manager of the senior team after just one pre-season practice match.

Remarkably, he has worked alongside every Senior Coach since the Bears officially formed in 1987 including Peter Knights, Paul Feltham, Norm Dare, Robert Walls, John Northey, Roger Merrett, Leigh Matthews and Michael Voss.

Lowe has endured the highs and lows of AFL during his tenure with the Club - from the 'bad news' days at Carrara to the Lions' hat-trick of premierships from 2001-2003.

"It's sad to go, but I've loved my time at the Club and I've met some terrific people," Lowe said.

"I still remember my first game against Geelong at Carrara when we got thumped by 100 points!"

"My decision has nothing to do with how the Club has performed this year. It is more a case that I have been given a new opportunity closer to home which I couldn't refuse."

Throughout his time, Lowe has been a prominent and popular figure behind the scenes at the Club.

Among countless other responsibilities, he has helped coordinate the team's interstate trips, complete match-day team sheets, update match-up boards during games and even supply lollies for the players after matches.

Lowe is already a Lions Life Member which further acknowledges the enormous contribution he has made to the Club.

Senior Coach Michael Voss praised Lowe's long-term commitment to the Club.

"Barry was at the Club long before I even arrived as a teenager and has been one of very few constant figures in the Lions' merged history," Voss said.

"He helped me throughout my entire playing career and more recently during my time as Senior Coach. He is an incredibly genuine and selfless person who makes an impression on everyone he meets."

"While we will certainly miss him here at the Lions next year, we won't soon forget the significant impact he has made on this Club."

Lowe will commence a full-time position with the Gold Coast Football Club from next year.

The entire Brisbane Lions AFC wishes Barry and his family all the best for the future.
