WESTERN Bulldogs veteran Nathan Eagleton will play for a 14th season after signing a new one-year deal with the club on Friday.
The 31-year-old's recommitment follows that of Jason Akermanis earlier this week and Brian Lake last month.
The Bulldogs' bursting salary cap, which now accommodates former Sydney Swan Barry Hall, meant Eagleton and Akermanis took significant pay cuts to remain at the club.
"The fact that Nathan has committed to the club for another season once again shows the tremendous belief this group has in its potential," general manager of football James Fantasia told westernbulldogs.com.au.
"Like Aker, we were unable to offer Nathan a contract that reflects his importance to our club but he has decided to put team success ahead of personal gain."
Eagleton, who is currently holidaying overseas, said it was his belief in the Bulldogs' immediate future that influenced his decision to accept the reduced contract.
"I have a lot of faith in the direction the club is moving in and I am rapt that contract negotiations are now out of the way," he said.
"I love being a part of the Western Bulldogs and cannot wait to sink my teeth into the pre-season.
"The club bought me across from Port Adelaide and since then the Whitten Oval has become a second home for me. The players just want to give this club the success it craves."
Eagleton played every game this year to bring his career tally to 261.
At the end of 1999, he crossed to the Bulldogs from Port Adelaide after three seasons and 56 games.
Eagleton will commence pre-season training with the rest of the Bulldogs' older players on November 23.
